What I Would Love to Do with My Boring Living Room

My living room needs an overhaul. Seriously, I'm a librarian at a public school and I think that's quite apparent from the minute a guest walks into the house. The room seems yet cluttered from the amount of books that are in the room. I need something funky in there like a shoe chair or something to show I do belong to the current generation! I have two bookshelves near the front door, and the wall is this beige color that I once that was chic. Now I just think that it looks boring. What I would love is to change the furniture to something modern, but with a classic touch. Also, the walls need a bit of color, maybe a shade of red or green? I would also like to install a nice ceiling fan, the kind with the built in lights to add some style to the room. This would be my first remodeling project on the house. If I had the money, I would make this transformation a reality, and donate the stuff that I have to a charity somewhere.
