I live near a large lake which attracts a lot of families and visitors. The park is beautiful as it verges on to a national park. I thought I would go for a run around the lake and I was in shock. I had no idea that there was so much rubbish. The following week I thought I would embark on a clean up operation. I've cleaned deso oil tanks professionally so I was used to this kind of work. I came well prepared. I even bought my trailer so I could cart the rubbish away. I arrived at the crack of dawn. I did not stop until midday. I was exhausted. A lot of the rubbish seemed to be in the bushes and was caught in trees. People should not be so careless as they should appreciate trees. I picked up lots of bottles and cans. I ended up recycling these. I could not stand the thought of them going to landfill. i have written a letter to the local council outlining the need to have more bin and a recycling bin at the park. |
